The Chaos Engine 2 came out for the Amiga in 1996, developed by The Bitmap Brothers. It arrived late in the Amiga's life, a time when many players were already moving to newer systems, but it stood out as a polished and substantial action title for those still committed to the platform.

You control one of several mercenaries, each with a unique weapon and special ability, either alone or with a partner in co-op. Your goal is to fight through screen after screen of mechanized enemies and organic monstrosities, solving environmental puzzles to progress. You collect cash from fallen foes to upgrade your firepower and attributes between levels. The game demands careful movement and resource management; its difficulty is persistent, but fair. It feels tense and tactical, rewarding coordination and smart play over simple reflexes.
