Play Chaos Engine 2, The (Europe) (Proto) Online
Pick a steampunk mercenary, dodge flying gears, and accidentally shoot your co-op partner in the chaos of this lost Genesis prototype—it’s like the first game but cranked to 11.
Chaos Engine 2 (Proto) is one of those "what could’ve been" Genesis games—unreleased, but somehow still floating around. It’s basically more of the first game’s steampunk madness, just cranked up: bigger explosions, weirder enemies, and way more gears flying everywhere.
You pick from a bunch of mercenaries (I always went with the guy who had the flamethrower, obviously) and blast through waves of mechanical nightmares. The controls feel sharper than the original, and the co-op is chaotic in the best way—like, "who just shot me in the back?" kind of chaos. It’s got that same Smash TV energy, but with more pipes, rust, and ticking bombs you’ll absolutely forget about until they explode.
It’s rough around the edges—being a prototype and all—but if you’re into lost retro games, this one’s a weird little time capsule. Just don’t expect a polished final product.
