I remember picking up Cheetamen 2 for the NES back in 1992, a game published by Active Enterprises. It came out during that late era of the console when developers were still trying to squeeze new ideas out of aging hardware, though this one didn't exactly push boundaries in a good way. You control one of three Cheetamen, each with slightly different abilities, tasked with navigating side-scrolling stages filled with enemies and environmental hazards. The main goal is simply to reach the end of each level, fighting off foes with basic attacks, though the collision detection is so unreliable that half your hits might not register. You jump across platforms, collect power-ups that rarely feel impactful, and deal with constant slowdown when too many sprites appear on screen. The difficulty feels artificial, mostly due to glitches and poor design rather than challenging gameplay.
