Cocoto Kart Racer came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2005, developed by Neko Entertainment. It was one of those oddball kart racers that showed up late in the system's life, a time when developers were still squeezing every last bit of creativity out of the hardware. You don't play as cute plumbers or hedgehogs here; instead, you pick from a cast of little devil kids and other odd creatures, each with their own clunky kart.
You control one of these characters, racing on chaotic tracks filled with hazards like bottomless pits and moving obstacles. The main objective is straightforward: finish first. You pick up weapons like homing bats or explosive pumpkins to slow down opponents, and the tracks themselves are tight, demanding precise driving to avoid spinning out. The pacing is frantic, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially on later courses. It feels like controlling a bumper car on a haunted roller coaster, unpredictable and a little rough, but with its own strange appeal.
