Game Overview

Columns Crown came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2005, published by Sega. It was part of that era where puzzle games felt perfectly suited to handhelds, offering something straightforward and engaging you could pick up anywhere. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel, just gave you a solid, colorful block-dropping experience right in your pocket.

You control the falling columns of colored gems, rotating them to align three or more of the same color either horizontally or vertically. The main goal is to clear gems and prevent the stack from reaching the top of the screen. Key mechanics include the ability to swap individual gems within a falling column for better positioning, and special crown pieces that, when cleared, cause large chain reactions. The pace starts deceptively calm but quickly demands faster decisions, especially as the drop speed increases in later stages. It feels satisfying to set off a big combo and watch the screen clear up just when things look hopeless.
