I picked up Crash Bandicoot Fusion for the Game Boy Advance back in 2002, a time when handhelds were really hitting their stride with more complex platformers. It was developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Universal Interactive, and it felt like a solid attempt to bring Crash's chaotic energy to the small screen without losing the series' familiar charm.

You control Crash through a series of side-scrolling and isometric levels, spinning into enemies, breaking crates, and collecting Wumpa fruit and gems. The main goal is to progress through each stage, defeat bosses, and ultimately stop the usual villains. Signature mechanics include switching between Crash and his sister Coco for specific puzzles, and using a jetpack for some vertical shooting sections. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages, but nailing a tricky jump sequence or clearing a crowded enemy area feels genuinely satisfying. It captures that classic platforming tension where every move counts.
