I picked up Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure back in 2002, a Game Boy Advance title developed by Vicarious Visions. It was part of that wave of console-to-handheld adaptations, bringing Crash's signature platforming to a smaller screen without losing the spirit of the originals. The game felt right at home on the GBA, with its colorful visuals and tight controls fitting the hardware well.

You control Crash through linear, side-scrolling and pseudo-3D stages, spinning to break crates, jumping over gaps, and avoiding enemies. The main goal is to collect crystals and gems by completing levels and defeating bosses, all while navigating obstacles with precision. Signature mechanics include the classic spin attack, crate smashing for extra lives and apples, and the occasional animal ride segments that change up the gameplay. The pacing is brisk, though later stages ramp up the difficulty with tighter platforming and more aggressive enemies. It feels satisfying to master the timing of jumps and spins, especially when you finally clear a tough section after a few tries.
