1991 point-and-click adventure on Amiga. Investigate a yacht murder by gathering clues through dialogue with moving suspects. Uses time progression and context-sensitive interface.
Game Overview
Ever wanted to play an Agatha Christie-style whodunit where you’re the detective stuck on a ship full of suspicious rich people? That’s Cruise for a Corpse in a nutshell. You’re Inspector Dusentier, just trying to enjoy a fancy cruise until—surprise—your host gets murdered. Now everyone’s a suspect, from the grieving (but not too grieving) family to the suspiciously calm priest.
What I love is how the game plays out like an actual mystery novel. Instead of hunting for random puzzle items, you’re mostly talking to people, picking up on their weird reactions, and noticing when someone’s lying. The ship feels alive—characters move around, new clues pop up in places you’ve already checked, and time only moves forward when you uncover something important. It keeps you guessing.
The interface was ahead of its time, too. No clunky verb lists—just hover over stuff and the game tells you what you can do. Open drawers, turn keys, or grill suspects with the right questions. The polygonal characters look a little blocky now, but back then? Super stylish.
If you like slow-burn mysteries where every conversation matters, this one’s a hidden gem.
