Cruise for a Corpse came out in 1991 for MS-DOS, developed by Delphine Software International. It was part of that wave of early 90s adventure games that relied on detailed pixel art and mouse-driven interaction, before full motion video took over. The setting is a luxury yacht where a murder has just occurred, and you play as detective Raoul Dusentier, trying to figure out who among the guests is responsible.

You control Raoul directly, moving him from screen to screen to explore the yacht's cabins, decks, and hidden compartments. The main objective is to gather evidence, question the other characters, and piece together the timeline of the crime. Signature mechanics include a verb-based interaction system where you choose actions like "take", "use", or "talk", and an inventory where collected items must often be combined or used in specific ways. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, and the puzzles can be quite obscure, demanding careful observation and logical deduction.
