Play Danny Sullivan’s Indy Heat (prototype) Online
Danny Sullivan’s Indy Heat throws you into messy, bumper-car racing where the AI drivers play dirty, tracks have sketchy shortcuts, and your car shakes like it’s held together by duct tape. It’s rough around the edges in that way old arcade racers just are.

Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat is a prototype racing game that never saw an official release on the Sega Genesis. Developed by Rare and published by Tradewest, it arrived during a period when the console was saturated with arcade-style racers, many of which prioritized speed over depth. This one stands out for its chaotic, almost demolition-derby approach to the sport.
You control a single Indy-style race car, competing against aggressive AI opponents across a series of oval and road courses. The main objective is to finish first, but getting there involves constant bumping, drafting, and exploiting the track's uneven surfaces. Signature mechanics include a turbo boost that builds up from drafting behind other cars and a loose, slide-heavy handling model that makes every corner a minor crisis. The pacing is frantic, and the difficulty comes from the pack's relentless aggression, not just from hitting apexes. It feels like trying to win a bar fight while also attempting to set a lap record.
