Darius II (or Sagaia if you're playing the US version) is one of those classic side-scrolling shooters where you pilot a tiny spaceship against an armada of giant robotic sea creatures. Yeah, you read that right—mechanical fish, crabs, and other weird aquatic bosses with way too many laser beams.
The Genesis port isn't as flashy as the arcade version, but it still nails that frantic "dodge everything while your screen fills with bullets" energy. The branching paths mean you can pick different routes after each level, which keeps replays from feeling too samey. Just don't expect the soundtrack to blow you away—it's serviceable, but not exactly a banger.
If you're into old-school shmups with bizarre enemy designs and punishing difficulty, this one's a solid time capsule.
