Game Overview
Darkwing Duck on NES is basically what happens if Mega Man and a Disney cartoon had a weird, slightly janky baby. You play as the cape-wearing, quip-throwing hero, bouncing around St. Canard blasting goons with your gas gun. The levels are full of those little platforming tricks that make you mutter "oh come on" when you miss a jump—but in a way that makes you try again immediately.
The controls take a second to click (why does ducking feel so awkward?), but once you get the hang of wall-jumping between buildings and figuring out which weapon actually works against each boss, it’s stupidly satisfying. Also, the soundtrack slaps—you’ll be humming the mall level theme for days. It’s not the hardest NES game out there, but it’s got way more personality than most licensed titles from that era.
