Game Overview

Déjà Vu: A Nightmare Comes True!! is one of those games that sticks with you—mostly because you spend half of it panicking. You play as Ace Harding, a washed-up boxer turned PI who wakes up in a dingy bar bathroom with no memory, a gun in his pocket, and a very dead guy upstairs. Oh, and the gun’s missing exactly three bullets. Not suspicious at all.

What makes it great is how it throws you right into the mess. You’re clicking around this grimy 1940s Chicago, digging through drawers for clues while cops close in, and the whole time your character’s memory is literally fading. The interface was ahead of its time—multiple windows, mouse controls—but honestly, the real tension comes from the clock ticking down on your sanity. One wrong move and you might forget something crucial, like how to open a door or why you shouldn’t confess to murder.

It’s clunky by today’s standards, but the atmosphere is thick enough to cut with a knife. You’ll find yourself saving constantly, just in case that random whiskey bottle you drank was a terrible idea (spoiler: it usually is). If you like your noir with a side of existential dread, this is the one.
