Demikids Dark Version came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed and published by Atlus. It was part of that wave of monster-collecting RPGs on the system, though it leaned into a much darker aesthetic and tone than many of its contemporaries.

You control a young boy who, after a strange incident, gains the ability to communicate with and command demons. Your main goal is to explore a series of dungeons and the overworld, recruiting monsters to your cause by negotiating with them after battle. The core mechanics involve fusing captured demons to create new, more powerful allies, and managing their elemental affinities to exploit enemy weaknesses in turn-based combat. The pacing is deliberate, with a fair amount of grinding expected, and the difficulty can be unforgiving if you don't carefully plan your team's composition. It feels like a methodical, sometimes punishing puzzle where every new demon fusion offers a tangible sense of progression.
