Game Overview
DemiKids: Dark Version is one of those GBA RPGs that flew under the radar but has this weirdly addictive monster-collecting hook. You play as Akira, a kid who gets dragged into fixing a time rift in the demon world—because apparently, that’s just what happens when you’re in a Shin Megami Tensei spin-off.
The combat’s straightforward at first—your usual turn-based stuff—but the real fun comes from recruiting demons mid-battle. Some join if you talk to them right, others need a good beating first. There’s something satisfying about convincing a fire-breathing nightmare to fight for you instead of against you.
You’ll run into over 300 demons, though good luck catching them all without a friend who has the Light Version. The trading feels a bit like Pokémon, but with way more occult vibes. The sprites are tiny but full of personality, and the fusion system lets you mash your monsters together into even weirder ones.
It’s not the deepest RPG out there, but if you like collecting creepy little guys and making them fight your battles, this one’s a solid time-waster.
