Dick Tracy on the Game Boy came out in 1991, developed by Realtime Associates. It was part of that wave of licensed games from the era, trying to capture the feel of the comic strip and the then recent movie on Nintendo's handheld. You play as the trench-coated detective himself, moving through a side scrolling cityscape filled with criminals.

You control Tracy directly, walking, jumping across gaps, and punching your way through waves of enemy thugs. The main objective is to progress through the city, clearing screens of gangsters to eventually confront the big bosses. Signature mechanics include screen by screen exploration where enemies respawn if you leave and return, and occasional driving stages where you shoot at pursuing cars. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is quite high, demanding precise jumps and quick reactions to enemy patterns.
