Disney's Herbie: Fully Loaded came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2005, developed by Climax and published by Disney Interactive. It was one of those many licensed games from that era, built around the live-action movie, and it fit right in with the portable racers of the time. You weren't getting a graphical powerhouse, but it had a certain charm if you were into kart-style games or just loved the little car with a mind of its own.
You control Herbie, the sentient Volkswagen Beetle, in a series of circuit races and special missions. The main goal is to win cups, unlock new tracks and characters, and upgrade Herbie's speed and handling. Signature mechanics include performing wheelies by tapping a button to get a temporary speed boost, and using a special nitro that builds up as you drift around corners or collect power-ups. The AI can be aggressive, often trying to bump you off course, which keeps the races tense even on medium difficulty. It feels like a straightforward, slightly chaotic arcade racer where pulling off a perfect drift into a wheelie over a jump is genuinely satisfying.
