Disney’s Herbie – Fully Loaded on GBA is one of those racers that just feels… happy. You’re driving a sentient VW Beetle that somehow has more personality than most RPG protagonists, weaving through tracks that look like they’re ripped straight from the movie. The first race had me grinning when Herbie suddenly popped a wheelie mid-turn—apparently, he does that when you hit a power-up.
It’s not super technical, but that’s the charm. You’ll tap the shoulder buttons to drift around tight corners (Herbie slides like he’s on butter) or trigger nitro boosts by filling up a meter. The AI cars play dirty, swerving into you or dropping oil slicks, but Herbie’s got tricks too—like a temporary speed burst that makes his headlights go all determined. The tracks get wild later, with shortcuts through carnival rides and jumps over construction sites.
Perfect for when you want something lighthearted between deeper games. Just don’t be surprised if you start mentally cheering for your car by the third race.
