Game Overview
Remember that weirdly tough Lion King game on Genesis? This sequel’s way more forgiving—you play as Kiara, Simba’s daughter, bouncing through the Pride Lands with better controls and fewer rage-quit moments. The jungle levels look gorgeous in that chunky 16-bit way, and you’ll occasionally switch to Kovu for some stealthy bits where you dodge hyenas.
It’s got that classic Disney vibe—bright colors, movie music rearranged for bleepy Genesis sound—but what surprised me was the co-op. Grab a friend, and one of you plays Kiara while the other controls Kovu, which makes the later boss fights way less frustrating. Not gonna lie, the story’s cheesy in that direct-to-VHS sequel way, but the lava level where you outrun a wildfire? Still holds up.
If you missed this as a kid, it’s basically the Lion King game you wish you’d gotten the first time around.
