DJ Boy is this weird, kinda janky beat 'em up where you're a roller-skating hip-hop dude fighting through a neon-drenched city. The whole vibe screams late 80s Japan trying way too hard to be cool—imagine if someone described American street culture to a Tokyo dev team after three energy drinks.

You skate left to right punching out punks, bikers, and random thugs while the soundtrack blares these synthy hip-hop beats that absolutely do not slap. The controls are stiff, the hit detection's questionable, and the sprite animations look like someone animated them during their lunch break. But there's something charming about how earnestly bizarre it is—like when you fight a breakdancing enemy who somehow turns into a spinning top.

It's not a good game by any stretch, but if you're into retro oddities or just want to see what passed for "urban cool" in 1989 Japan, it's a trip. Just don't expect Streets of Rage.
