1992 Amiga strategy game. Control ground/space units across 7 planets with unique terrain. Customize units with 8 parameters. Manage resources, fog of war, random events. 2-player serial cable multiplayer. Capture 5 of 7 fortresses to win.
Dominium_Disk2 is one of those Amiga games that feels way ahead of its time—you're thrown into this sprawling interstellar conflict where you juggle seven planets at once, each with its own terrain and challenges. The setup’s great: you wake up from cryo-sleep to find Dominium on the brink of war, and suddenly you’re the knight in charge of defending the whole system. Selena, the local regent, gives you free rein, which basically means "good luck figuring this out."
What’s cool is how the game handles difficulty—you set a 4-digit "Stellar Code" that tweaks everything from enemy aggression to how often spies report back. It’s a neat way to randomize each playthrough. The maps wrap around, so no edge is safe, and you’re constantly shuffling units between ground and space. Fighters dart between planets, jeeps scout fog-covered hexes, and factories churn out whatever weird unit combo you’ve cooked up (tanky slow cruisers? speedy glass cannons?).
Resources are tight, fuel drains fast, and Baron Kraal’s forces don’t wait around. You’ll lose a few fortresses before realizing you should’ve invested in radar upgrades earlier. Selena chimes in with updates, but half the time it’s bad news—pirate raids, rebellions, the usual space drama. Two-player mode’s a blast if you’ve got a buddy and a serial cable, though good luck coordinating attacks when everything’s happening in real time. It’s messy, chaotic, and weirdly satisfying when your cobbled-together fleet finally takes that fifth fortress.
