Dora the Explorer: Super Spies is one of those GBA games that actually surprised me—it’s not just a lazy kids’ tie-in. You play as Dora or Boots (I always picked Boots because, let’s be honest, monkeys are cooler) trying to stop Swiper from stealing Tico’s rocket-car. The whole spy theme works way better than you’d expect—you’re sneaking through levels like Benny’s Barn and a spooky cave, collecting gadgets like rocket sneakers (great for jumping gaps) and spy glasses that reveal hidden stuff.
What I liked: the levels actually have some challenge, and the mix of English and Spanish keeps it feeling like the show. The gadgets change up how you move—like the rope launcher lets you swing over pits, and the spy shield blocks Swiper’s traps. It’s simple, but way more fun than just running left to right. Also, the Fiesta Trio shows up to cheer you on, which is weirdly charming.
If you grew up with Dora or just want a decent platformer for younger kids, this one’s a solid pick. Just watch out for those desert levels—Swiper’s sneaky there.
