Play Driv3r (E)(Rising Sun) Online

Top-down cop chases where you’re mostly slamming stolen cars into things, barely making turns, and occasionally bailing out to blast some goons. The GBA version’s got that janky charm where wrecking feels as fun as escaping.

Game Overview

Driv3r on the Game Boy Advance came out in 2005, published by Atari. It was part of that wave of ambitious, scaled-down console ports trying to capture open-world car chases on a handheld. The hardware limitations were obvious, but it was interesting to see how they tried to fit a driving and shooting game into that tiny cartridge.

You play as an undercover cop, Tanner, driving stolen vehicles through city streets to complete missions. The main goal is to take down a criminal ring by causing chaos, evading police, and engaging in shootouts. Signature mechanics include high-speed pursuits where you ram enemy cars and a free-roaming mode that lets you explore the city between objectives. The pacing is hectic; the driving physics are loose, making collisions frequent and often unpredictable. Getting out on foot to aim and fire at pursuing enemies breaks up the action, though the controls can feel cramped. It’s a messy, sometimes frustrating experience, but there’s a raw satisfaction in pulling off a clean escape after a messy pile-up.
