Play Dual Orb Online
Dodge betrayal from your own party while mixing spells to unlock wild orb combos—those screen-filling firestorms never get old. Also, that dungeon with flickering torchlight? Yeah, you'll pause there too.

Dual Orb on SNES is one of those RPGs that slipped under the radar back in the day, which is a shame because it's got this weirdly satisfying combat system. You've got your usual turn-based fights, but then there's the whole orb mechanic—pair up certain spells and suddenly your fireball turns into a screen-clearing inferno. Took me a few battles to stop wasting MP on weak combos.
The pixel art holds up surprisingly well, especially the spell animations. There's a dungeon early on where torchlight flickers against these mossy stone walls, and I remember just stopping to take it in. Story's pretty standard "ancient evil returns" stuff at first, but then some party members start betraying each other over the orbs, and suddenly you're questioning who to bring into battle.
If you ever played Lufia and wished the combat had more crunch, this is your fix. Just don't expect the cartridge to be cheap—took me three eBay bids to snag a copy.
