Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, a Nintendo release that bundled the upgraded NES Mario games with the newer Super Mario World. It was a solid package for anyone who hadn't played them all, offering a lot of content on one cartridge during the SNES's prime.
You control Mario or Luigi, running and jumping through side-scrolling levels to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser. The main objective is to reach the goal at the end of each stage, but exploration is key; you hunt for secret exits to unlock new paths, collect power-ups like the Super Mushroom and Fire Flower, and in Super Mario World, ride Yoshi to eat enemies and find hidden items. The pacing is brisk, with a mix of straightforward platforming and more complex, hidden routes that increase the challenge. It feels responsive and rewarding to play, with a sense of discovery that keeps you moving forward.
