Duke Nukem Advance (LightForce) (EU) is a classic run-and-gun shooter for the GBA that feels like a stripped-down version of the old-school Duke experience. You start off blasting aliens in Area 51, and the controls are surprisingly tight for a handheld port—though the tiny screen makes it easy to get blindsided by enemies.
The levels are short but packed with secrets, like hidden keycards and weapon upgrades. I remember getting stuck in the Egypt stage because I missed a well-hidden freezer gun, which made the next boss fight way harder than it needed to be. The shrink ray is still as satisfying as ever, watching enemies crumple under your boot.
Multiplayer deathmatch is fun if you can find three other people with copies of the game, but good luck with that these days. Duke Nukem Advance (LightForce) (EU) is rough around the edges, but it nails the chaotic energy of the series.
