Play El Viento (Japan) Online
Whip cultists on floating rooftops, dodge Cthulhu nightmares, and try not to laugh when enemies explode into giant skulls for no reason—it’s janky, chaotic, and weirdly lovable.

El Viento is this weird, kinda janky but totally charming action-platformer from '91 where you play as Annet, a whip-wielding treasure hunter who somehow ends up fighting Lovecraftian horrors. The controls take a minute to get used to—your jumps feel a little floaty at first—but once it clicks, you’re bouncing between rooftops, dodging cultists, and whipping monsters that look like they crawled out of a Cthulhu fanfic.
It’s got that early ‘90s arcade vibe where everything’s just slightly off-kilter—the music’s weirdly upbeat for a game about eldritch abominations, and some enemies explode into giant skulls for no reason. Not the smoothest Genesis game out there, but there’s something about its chaotic energy that makes it hard to put down. If you dig obscure action games with a side of existential dread, this one’s a trip.
