F-15 Strike Eagle II on the Sega Genesis throws you into the cockpit of a fighter jet across four intense campaigns—Libya, the Persian Gulf, the Middle East, and Vietnam. The scale is ridiculous: 250,000 miles of airspace to dominate, with ground targets, enemy fighters, and SAM sites all gunning for you.
You start with a mix of weapons—cannons for dogfights, Sidewinders for quick air-to-air shots, AMRAAMs for long-range sniping, and Mavericks to wreck tanks below. The targeting computer helps, but enemy pilots aren’t pushovers. Miss a lock-on, and they’ll loop behind you fast.
What’s cool is the camera options. You can switch between cockpit view (all dials and HUD) or pull back to watch your F-15 bank through clouds. The "Director’s Mode" cuts to cinematic angles—like a missile slamming into a runway or enemy jets scrambling—which makes it feel less like a sim and more like a ’90s action movie.
Landings are still nerve-wracking even with assists, though. I crashed three times before realizing you can’t just slam the throttle to full on takeoff. Worth it for the moment you finally nail a perfect Maverick strike on a bunker.
