F-Zero for Game Boy Advance came out in 2001, developed by NDcube and published by Nintendo. It was one of those early titles that really showed off what the system could do, pushing a sense of speed and visual polish that felt fresh at the time. The game arrived when portable racing was mostly simpler sprite-based affairs, so seeing Mode 7-style scaling and rotation on a handheld was pretty striking.

You control Captain Falcon or another pilot, racing a high-speed hovercar across twisting, multi-level tracks. The main goal is straightforward: finish in the top three to advance through the Grand Prix cups. Key mechanics include managing your energy bar, which serves as both health and a boost resource; using the shoulder buttons for subtle mid-air pivots to correct your line; and timing boosts carefully to avoid overheating your engine. The pace is relentless, and the difficulty spikes noticeably in later cups, demanding precise control and track memorization. It feels like balancing on a wire at 1000 kilometers per hour, where every input matters and recovery is rarely forgiving.
