Game Overview

Famicom Mini Vol. 24: Hikari Shinwa - Palutena no Kagami is a Game Boy Advance re-release of the original 1986 Famicom Disk System game, developed by Nintendo. It arrived during a period when Nintendo was revisiting its classic library for portable play, offering a chance to experience an early title that would later inspire the Kid Icarus series. The game retains its 8-bit presentation, though the GBA screen sometimes mutes the colors compared to the original hardware.

You control Pit, an angel tasked with ascending through vertical dungeons, battling monsters, and collecting items to strengthen your arsenal. The main objective is to climb to the top of each stage, defeat bosses, and ultimately restore peace to Angel Land. Signature mechanics include screen-by-screen platforming that requires careful jumps and timing, using a bow that can be powered up over time, and navigating maze-like rooms filled with enemies and hazards. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty remains steep, especially in later areas where precision is essential. Playing it feels like a tense, methodical climb where every small victory matters.
