Fantasy Flyer is one of those Amiga games that feels like it was made by someone who really loved arcade shooters but also had a soft spot for weird fantasy art. You pilot this little ship—sort of a cross between a dragon and a biplane—through these scrolling levels packed with floating castles, wizards tossing spells at you, and these bizarre enemy creatures that look like they escaped from a medieval tapestry.

The controls are simple—just fly, shoot, and try not to crash into the scenery—but some of the enemy patterns get seriously mean after the first few levels. I remember getting stuck on this one boss that kept summoning these tiny imps to swarm me. Took forever to figure out the trick was to ignore them and just focus fire on the boss’s glowing weak spot.

It’s got that classic Amiga charm: chunky pixel art, a synth-heavy soundtrack that somehow works, and just enough challenge to keep you hitting the spacebar for "one more try." If you’ve got an emulator or the original disks, it’s a solid way to kill an afternoon.
