Game Overview

FightBox was a 2004 Game Boy Advance release from developer Digital Fiction and publisher The Game Factory. It arrived late in the system's life, a time when many experimental and budget titles tried to carve out a niche. The game stands out for its focus on building and battling custom robots rather than following a traditional story.

You control a robot you built from collected parts, moving through a series of enclosed arenas. The main objective is to destroy all opposing robots in each stage to progress. Signature mechanics include assembling your fighter from a wide array of components, each affecting speed, armor, and weaponry, and navigating hazards like crushers and flame jets during combat. The pacing is fast and unpredictable, with matches often ending quickly due to the fragile nature of some builds. It feels like a messy, unpredictable toybox where every fight is a new experiment.
