Play Final Blow Online
Dodge punches, throw jabs and hooks, and aim for knockouts as you climb the ranks in this 1990 boxing game for Sega Genesis.
Final Blow came out for the Sega Genesis in 1990, published by Taito. It was one of the earlier boxing games on the system, arriving before the more famous heavyweight contenders like Evander Holyfield's Real Deal Boxing. It had a certain rough charm that fit right in with the era's straightforward arcade ports.
You control a boxer from a side view, moving back and forth to land jabs and hooks while trying to avoid your opponent's attacks. The main goal is to win matches by knockout or decision, working your way up the ranks. Key mechanics include a stamina meter that depletes as you throw punches, a block button to reduce incoming damage, and one-minute rounds that force an aggressive pace. The difficulty is unforgiving; the computer reads your movements and punishes mistakes harshly. It feels like a tense, tactical scrap where one wrong move can end the fight.
