Game Overview
Final Blow on the Genesis is one of those early boxing games that actually gets the feel of the sport right. You step into the ring, gloves up, and the first thing you notice is how quick the rounds are—just a minute each, with those little breaks in between where your boxer shuffles awkwardly like they do on TV. The goal’s simple: wear your opponent down with jabs and hooks until they hit the canvas for that 10-count.
What I like is how you can actually corner someone against the ropes, but the ref steps in if things get too messy. Blocking matters too—just swinging wildly gets you nowhere. There’s a tournament mode and a league option if you want something longer than quick fights. Just don’t mix it up with the Master System version, which is a totally different (and way less fun) game.
It’s rough around the edges like most Genesis sports titles, but there’s something satisfying about landing that perfect uppercut when their stamina’s low.
