Tiny Kenshiro wrecks blocky goons with explosive punches—hold B to charge up those Hokuto Shinken finishers, then watch pixelated bad guys pop like balloons. A little stiff, but nailing that timing feels so good.

Fist of the North Star on the Game Boy came out in 1989, developed by Shouei System. It was one of those early portable adaptations of a popular license, trying to squeeze a big, violent anime into a small, green-screened world. You knew what you were getting into back then; it was more about having the character in your pocket than expecting a deep experience.
You control Kenshiro, walking screen by screen through a side-scrolling wasteland. Your main goal is to rescue your kidnapped fiancée Yuria from a series of villainous strongholds. The signature mechanic is holding the B button to charge up your special Hokuto Shinken attacks, which makes enemies explode in a very satisfying, pixelated burst. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, and the difficulty comes from precise timing and limited visibility on the small screen. It feels like a condensed, slightly clunky brawler that still delivers a punch when you get it right.
