Flash Point is one of those Genesis games that somehow slipped under the radar, but once you start playing, you can’t believe it wasn’t more popular. It’s basically a non-stop bullet hell where you’re sprinting, jumping, and shooting through levels that feel like they’re actively trying to murder you—in the best way possible.
The first level throws you right into the chaos: enemies pour in from both sides, explosions light up the screen, and you’re scrambling to grab power-ups before some flying death machine snipes you. It’s got that same frantic energy as Contra, but with way more stuff happening at once. And yeah, the bosses are ridiculous—huge, screen-filling monstrosities that take half your ammo just to dent.
Co-op is where it really shines, though. Teaming up with a friend turns the whole thing into this glorious mess of friendly fire (accidental, of course) and last-second revives. Just don’t blame me when you both get vaporized by the third stage. This game doesn’t pull punches.
