Game Overview
Gauntlet: Dark Legacy on GBA is like a pocket-sized version of the arcade classic—simpler, but still packed with that chaotic dungeon-crawling fun. You pick from four characters (I always went wizard because fireballs, obviously) and dive into five themed realms, each with its own maze-like levels and a big nasty boss at the end. The isometric view makes it feel bigger than it should on a tiny screen, though you’ll still bump into walls trying to navigate those twisty corridors.
It’s pure Gauntlet: smash monster generators, hoard keys, and scarf down floating turkey legs like your life depends on it (because it does). No shops or fancy upgrades here—just level-ups that boost your stats automatically. The power-ups are a blast though, especially when you snag the five-way shot and turn into a walking death machine for a few seconds. Just watch out for those poison ghosts—they’re the worst.
It’s not as deep as the console versions, but for quick dungeon runs between bus stops, it’s weirdly satisfying. Save your progress in the hub and chip away at Garm’s realms one lunch break at a time.
