Play Gauntlet IV (August 1993) Online
Pick your hero and dive into dungeons swarming with ghosts and loot-stealing thieves—now with a proper quest mode so you're not just wandering blindly. Still chaotic with four players, still hilarious when someone's stuck as the health-draining wizard.

Gauntlet IV came out for the Sega Genesis in 1993, developed by M2 and published by Tengen. It was a time when arcade-style multiplayer games were finding a solid home on consoles, and this one built directly on the original Gauntlet formula without trying to reinvent it.
You control one of four classic characters (warrior, valkyrie, wizard, or elf) and explore maze-like dungeons room by room, fighting endless waves of ghosts, grunts, and loot-stealing thieves. The main goal is to survive, collect keys, find the exit, and manage your constantly decreasing health; signature mechanics include shooting or slashing projectiles at enemies, collecting food and potions to stay alive, and coordinating with other players to avoid friendly fire. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty can feel punishing if you rush in carelessly. It feels like a tense, cooperative scramble where every decision matters right up until the moment you run out of quarters (or lives).
