Game Overview

Giganoid came out for the Amiga in 1988 from Swiss Computer Arts. It was one of those games that showed off what the Amiga could do with color and sound, fitting right in with the platform's growing library of arcade-style experiences. You don't hear much about it now, but at the time it offered a solid, polished take on a familiar concept.

You control a paddle at the bottom of the screen, deflecting a ball to break blocks while avoiding enemies like the Gatekeeper. The main goal is to clear all 50 levels, collecting power-ups like multi-balls and laser beams along the way. The game uses screen-by-screen progression with occasional bonus stages, and the difficulty ramps up steadily as enemy patterns get more aggressive. It feels responsive and challenging, with a good sense of flow once you get into the rhythm of clearing screens.
