Game Overview

Giganoid is basically Arkanoid on steroids for the Amiga. You’ve got the same brick-breaking, paddle-bouncing chaos, but with a few twists that keep it from feeling like a straight clone. Power-ups drop when you smash certain blocks—some give you a wider paddle, others flood the screen with extra balls, and my personal favorite, the laser, lets you just blast bricks instead of waiting for the ball to do the work.

What makes it stand out? The Gatekeeper—this annoying little thing swoops in to mess with you, and you’ve gotta knock it out with your ball. Then there are the Demons, which show up in bonus rounds. They’ll let you skip levels if you’re feeling bold, but the more you skip, the harder they fight back. Risky, but sometimes worth it.

Fifty levels in total, and you can play with a joystick or mouse (though I always preferred the mouse for precision). It’s familiar enough to jump right into, but the extra challenges keep it from feeling too predictable.
