Godzilla: Monster of Monsters! came out for the NES in 1988, published by Toho. It was one of the few games at the time that tried to bring a giant monster brawl into a strategy and action hybrid. You don't just control one character; you pick either Godzilla or Mothra and take on a series of alien worlds.

You move your monster across a strategic map, screen by screen, until you encounter enemies, which shifts the game into a side-scrolling fight. Your main goal is to defeat the alien invaders and their monster bosses across eight planets. Mothra is faster and can fly, while Godzilla is slower but deals more damage with his atomic breath and physical attacks. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty can spike during boss encounters. It feels like a slow, deliberate march toward each climactic showdown.
