Monster House came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2006, published by THQ. It was one of those licensed games that showed up a lot on the system, based on the animated movie from that same summer. You play as three neighborhood kids who have to rescue their friend from a house that's literally alive and trying to eat everyone.
You control DJ, Chowder, and Jenny, switching between them to use their unique tools; DJ has a water gun, Chowder uses a slingshot, and Jenny carries a flashlight. The goal is to explore the house room by room, solving environmental puzzles and defeating possessed furniture and other monsters. You collect gears to fix mechanisms and progress, while also smashing vases and objects for health pickups and ammo. The pacing is fairly methodical, with some tricky enemy patterns to learn, but it never gets brutally hard. It feels like a straightforward, slightly spooky adventure that captures the movie's premise well.
