Godzilla: The Series - Monster Wars came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Crawfish Interactive and published by Infogrames. It was one of those licensed games that showed up a lot on the handheld around that time, trying to capture the feel of the animated series with what the hardware could handle. You don't see many games like it now, but back then it was a solid attempt to bring giant monster action into your pocket.

You control Godzilla or other unlockable monsters, moving through side-scrolling city stages, destroying military vehicles and buildings while fighting off other kaiju. The main goal is to reduce the city's defense meter to zero before your health runs out, which involves a lot of stomping, tail whipping, and using your atomic breath. The game uses a life bar for health and a separate energy meter for special attacks, so you have to manage when to go all out and when to play it safe. It's not an easy game; the enemies are persistent, and some of the boss fights require pattern recognition and good timing. Playing it feels like being in control of a slow, powerful wrecking ball that just won't be stopped.
