Golden Axe II is that classic Sega Genesis beat-em-up where you pick between three warriors—axe guy, sword lady, or dwarf with a serious temper—and just start wrecking skeletons and lizard men. It’s basically more of the first game, but hey, if you liked smashing pots for magic power-ups and riding weird dragon-chickens, that’s not a bad thing.
The controls are simple (slash, jump, magic button), but some enemies love cheap shots from off-screen. Pro tip: the dwarf’s spin attack clears crowds better than you’d think. Also, whoever designed the skeleton mages clearly had a grudge against humanity.
It’s short, chaotic, and exactly what you’d expect from a 90s arcade port. Grab a friend for co-op if you can—everything’s funnier when you accidentally set each other on fire with dragon breath.
