Play Gotcha! Online
Dodge paint blasts in neon mazes while trap doors drop under you—janky NES charm at its best, especially when you nail that perfect shot on your buddy.

Gotcha! came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, published by Atlus. It was one of those early NES titles that felt experimental, a bit rough around the edges, but full of ideas. It didn't have the polish of a first-party Nintendo game, but it had its own distinct, quirky personality that made it stand out on a shelf crowded with platformers and action games.
You control a small character armed with a paintball gun, moving screen by screen through a series of maze-like rooms. The main goal is to tag the other player (or the computer opponent) with your paint while avoiding their shots. Key mechanics include shooting to cover the floor in your color, which slows your opponent down if they walk through it, and using trap doors that open beneath players to drop them to a lower floor. The pacing is frantic; one moment you're cornering your target, the next you're falling through the floor and scrambling to get back into position. It feels chaotic and unpredictable, a game where a single lucky shot can completely turn the tables.
