Ever played a game that starts as a top-down shooter and suddenly turns into an adventure with keys, dungeons, and upgrades? That's The Guardian Legend—half Zelda, half bullet hell, and all NES weirdness. You play as this woman who transforms into a fighter jet (because why not?), blasting through alien corridors before landing to explore maze-like zones on foot.
The first time I played, I got wrecked by the second boss because I didn’t realize you could backtrack for power-ups. The music’s got that classic NES synth energy, and some of the later levels get seriously intense—like, "throw your controller" intense. If you dig old-school games that don’t hold your hand, this one’s a hidden gem.
