Play Guerilla War Online
Team up as rebel soldiers, blast through enemy lines, rescue hostages, and throw grenades in this intense arcade-style shooter on NES.
Guerilla War came out on the NES in 1987, developed by SNK. It was part of that wave of arcade-style shooters that felt more intense and cooperative than a lot of the single-player adventures on the system. You could really tell it was built for two people to jump into the action together.
You control one of two rebel soldiers fighting to overthrow a dictator. Your main goal is to blast through each stage, clearing out enemy soldiers, vehicles, and installations while rescuing hostages along the way. The game progresses screen by screen, and you are constantly moving upward through jungles and military bases. Signature mechanics include the ability to carry and throw grenades to take out clusters of enemies or tanks, and the fact that you have unlimited continues, which is good because the screen gets absolutely packed with enemies and bullets. It feels frantic and generous at the same time, like a chaotic playground where you are always just a few mistakes away from getting overrun.
