Survive as Laurie Strode, navigate through creepy places, set traps, and avoid Michael Myers while trying to rescue the kids he’s taken in this 1987 NES horror game.
Halloween was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, developed by Toho and published by Bandai. It came out during a period when many horror and slasher films were being adapted into video games, often with mixed results, and it stands as a straightforward attempt to bring the tension of the film to the 8-bit console.
You control Laurie Strode as she moves through a neighborhood, a hospital, and finally the Myers house, setting traps like bear traps and laying down electrical wires to slow Michael Myers down. The main objective is to survive long enough to find and rescue the children he has taken, all while avoiding Michael himself, who relentlessly pursues you from screen to screen. The game is unforgiving; one hit from Michael ends your life, and the limited trap placements mean you have to plan each move carefully. Playing it feels like a tense, claustrophobic race against an unstoppable force.
