Game Overview

Hamster Monogatari 64 is one of those weirdly charming N64 games where you basically become a hamster parent. You start by picking from 10 different hamsters—some are fluffy, some are grumpy, and they all have their own little quirks. At first, it’s just feeding them and cleaning their cage, but then things get surprisingly deep.

Forget to play with them? They’ll get sick. Ignore them too long? Off to the hamster hospital you go. There’s a shop where you can buy toys and treats, but the old guy running it won’t take returns, so choose carefully. Once your hamsters grow up, you can enter them in races or beauty contests (yes, really), but you’ve gotta plan ahead—the game runs on a calendar, and missing a deadline means waiting another week.

The best part? You can actually pet them on-screen with your hand, and they’ll learn tricks if you’re patient. There’s even a breeding system, but it’s not as simple as sticking two hamsters together—some just don’t get along, and even if they do, babies aren’t guaranteed. Oh, and your mom sends you an allowance every month, which feels weirdly realistic for a game about talking hamsters in a fantasy tree-hole world.

If you’ve ever wanted a mix of Tamagotchi and N64 jank, this is it.
