Harlequin is one of those Amiga platformers that sticks with you—mostly because it’s equal parts charming and weird. You play as this guy returning to his childhood paradise, Chimerica, which has gone seriously downhill since he left. The place is crawling with creatures that’ll kill you on touch, so your only defense is… shooting hearts at them. Yeah, love conquers all, I guess.
The levels are stacked vertically, so you’re constantly climbing, jumping, and dodging while hunting for hidden bonuses. Some sections feel like they’re hiding secrets just out of reach, which makes backtracking with new abilities pretty satisfying. The art has that early ‘90s surreal vibe—bright colors, odd creatures, and a dreamlike quality that makes it stand out from other platformers of the time.
It’s not the hardest game out there, but there’s something oddly compelling about bouncing around, turning enemies into harmless blobs with heart shots. If you dig quirky retro platformers, this one’s worth a look.
