Game Overview

Head On for the Game Boy was a 1990 release from Sega, a time when developers were still figuring out how to translate arcade-style action to the handheld's small screen. It was part of that early wave of games built for quick sessions, simple in concept but often surprisingly tense.

You control a small car, navigating a series of single-screen mazes from an overhead view. Your goal is to collect every flag in a stage while avoiding the enemy cars that relentlessly hunt you down. The core mechanics involve careful maneuvering through narrow passages and using quick turns to evade pursuers; the enemy AI is aggressive and will often try to cut off your escape routes, making patience and route planning essential. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as the mazes become more complex and the number of enemies increases. It feels like a constant, nervous game of cat and mouse where one wrong move ends your run.
