Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi came out on Game Boy Advance in 2005, developed by Sensory Sweep Studios. It was one of those licensed games that popped up a lot in the mid-2000s, based on the Cartoon Network show about the Japanese pop duo. The game doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it captures the show's colorful, hyperactive style pretty well for a GBA title.
You control either Ami or Yumi, running from left to right through side-scrolling stages. Your main goal is to reach the end of each level while collecting music notes, avoiding obstacles, and occasionally battling strange enemies like giant flying guitars. The gameplay involves a lot of jumping, some basic attacking, and timing your moves to the background music. It's not particularly difficult, but it moves quickly and keeps you tapping buttons. Playing it feels like a short, cheerful burst of cartoon energy.
