Game Overview

Hoshi wo Miru Hito is one of those weird, rough-around-the-edges NES RPGs that never made it out of Japan—probably for good reason. It's got this odd sci-fi vibe where you're running around talking to aliens and robots, but the translation patch I played still left half the dialogue feeling like cryptic nonsense. Combat's brutal too—random encounters hit hard, and you'll burn through healing items faster than you can say "game over."

Still, there's something weirdly charming about how janky it all is. The graphics have this clunky, early-RPG look, and some of the enemy designs are just bizarre (why is there a walking telephone?). Not sure I'd recommend it unless you really love punishing old-school RPGs or just want to see how strange 80s Japanese gaming could get. Definitely bring a walkthrough if you try it.
